Some house rules to make sure while you’re here you can feel at home.

  • Check in and check out

    Check in at 4:00 pm

Please us know your estimated arrival time at least an hour before. We like to stop by to check on things shortly after your arrival, and ensure everything is up to your expectations for your stay.

We ask that you please remove your shoes at the door whenever you come into the cabin.

    Check out at 10:00 am

    1. Please leave all used sheets on floor next to the bed so we can know to wash them. ANY BEDS THAT WERE NOT SLEPT IN PLEASE LEAVE MADE UP.

    2. If you have washed and dried any personal laundry, please remember to clean the dryer’s lint trap. Leave the washer door ajar to prevent mildew.

    3. Check inside the fridge, microwave, and BBQ grill. Wipe up any spills and make sure they’re empty. Double check that the BBQ grill propane tank valve is closed and burners off.

    4. Please start a load of towels in the washer.

    5. Please take all trash out to the bear safe bins before you leave.

    6. Close all the exterior doors and windows. Leave thermostats set at 45 degrees. Lock the cabin and return keys and garbage bin ring to lock box on door knob.

    7. Please make sure that outdoor garbage bin lids are closed and secured.

  • Wildlife

Enjoy the wildlife but do your part to keep our furry friends out of the cabin. Please make sure doors are not left open, store food carefully and clean up spills immediately.

We’ve never seen a bear near the cabin, but neighbors have seen them on the forest service land across the river. While visiting Yellowstone and Island Park, it is best to be prepared, and read about bear safety. If you are hiking or walking around, we recommend that you carry bear spray. GARBAGE ATTRACTS BEARS (and other animals) and must be secured in our bear safe containers. Keep bin lids closed and secured. NEVER LEAVE FOOD OUT IN THE OPEN! Keep food indoors between meals and while away from the cabin, close doors and windows.

Moose frequent the property and are common. You will often see them in the river behind the cabin. Moose can be very dangerous, be alert and keep your distance. NEVER COME BETWEEN A MAMA MOOSE AND HER CALF.

Always stay at least 100 yards away from Bear, Moose, Elk, and Bison.

Other animals we enjoy watching: River otters, wood chucks, yellow bellied marmots, chipmunks, squirrels and many bird species (trumpeter swans, ospreys, sandhill cranes, blue herons and bald eagles).

  • The River

Our little trail to the river bank is along the north lot line, marked with survey stakes. The stake closest to the river marks the border with forest service land. You can follow the path south along the river. Please be respectful of our neighbors homes near the river. DO NOT ALLOW YOUNG CHILDREN TO PLAY UNATTENDED. River is deeper than it looks, waist deep for average height adult but there are deeper spots.

Henrys fork foundation gives current river conditions and map of boat launch locations and river access :

    https://www.henrysfork.org/

Maps, fishing reports and conditions are under "resources". The document for river access above Mesa Falls lists access points along the river near the cabin. Up river, the nearest access is on Forest Road 313 from Mesa Falls Scenic Byway. Down river from the cabin, the nearest boat launch is at Riverside Campground, 3 miles down river from Forest Road 313 Boat launch.

Harriman State Park boat launches and Osborne Bridge are further up river from Forest road 313 boat launch.

NEVER FLOAT FURTHER DOWN RIVER PAST RIVERSIDE CAMPGROUND. The banks become steep, the river swift, and it is a long way to the last access road before Mesa Falls, which is very remote, and can be difficult to see from the river.

  • No Pets

Unfortunately several of our family members have allergies to cats and dogs. To make sure they can continue to enjoy the cabin we aren’t able to allow pets.

  • No Smoking

We don’t allow smoking in the cabin.

There is a $800 additional cleaning charge for any smoke damage, including cleaning to remove smoke odors.

  • Garbage Pick Up

We have TWO BEAR PROOF GARBAGE BINS outside at the cabin. Please ensure garbage is bagged neatly and taken to bins and lids are secured. No recycling in the area unfortunately, so both bins are just for garbage. GARBAGE PICKUP is EARLY WEDNESDAY mornings. On Tuesday, take the bins out to the road at the end of the driveway near our "2776" address marker. Leave them with wheels and handles facing away from the road. Lids are kept closed and secured for garbage pickup.
